Biscuit's Gluten-Free Dog Chew Sticks

Image of home made dog chews in a jar

🐾 This recipe is for your four-legged fellow sleuths — not the human ones. Biscuit insists.

Biscuit has strong opinions about snacks. These are more chew stick than biscuit — dense, chewy, and apparently irresistible straight out of the freezer. Jenna started making them because Biscuit kept stealing everyone else's food. It didn't entirely solve the problem, but it did give him something of his own. He remains unrepentant.

⏱ Prep Time: 10 minutes | Bake Time: 90–120 minutes | Yield: varies by size ✅ Gluten-Free | ✅ Dog-Safe | ✅ Biscuit-Approved

INGREDIENTS

• 2 very ripe bananas, completely mashed

• ½ cup natural peanut butter (peanuts only — no additives, no artificial sweeteners, no xylitol, no sugar)

• 1 Tbsp coconut oil

• 1½ cups certified gluten-free oat flour (just blend certified GF rolled oats in a blender or food processor until they become flour)

🐾 Jenna's Note: The peanut butter label matters here — xylitol is toxic to dogs. Read it carefully. Biscuit is worth the extra thirty seconds.

INSTRUCTIONS

1 Mash the bananas completely in a large bowl — no lumps.

2 Add peanut butter and coconut oil. Mix until well combined and smooth.

3 Slowly add the oat flour, stirring as you go, until the dough is firm but pliable — like play dough.

4 Roll into logs about ½ inch thick and 5–6 inches long. Shorter if your storage container is small, or if you have a small dog.

5 Bake at 200°F for 90 minutes to 2 hours, until dried out and firm but not hard. They'll firm up a little more as they cool.

6 Cool completely before storing.

7 Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, or freeze for up to 4 months.

🐾 Biscuit likes his straight out of the freezer. We don't question it.
